Your home is youe safe haven and balance is crucial, therefore, being your best self at home and outside your home means that you are maintaining a balance.
Stepping out of your house can feel like stepping onto a stage, and to truly be seen, now you wont be percieved by yourself, others will notice you. Whether it’s for work, meeting friends, or running errands, being confident, composed, and positive can set the tone for your aura and can build your personality.
In this post, I outline 10 things you can do to be at your best self every time you leave your house:
One. Have a morning routine
Your morning sets the tone for your entire day. Develop a routine that leaves you feeling refreshed and energized. This could include prayer, stretching, meditation, journaling, or simply enjoying a quiet cup of coffee. Sometimes your morning routine depends on your life situation at a point in time, e.g if you work a 9-5, you have to wake up and dress up. Remember to choose activities that ground you, fits into your schedule.
Two. Prepare an outfit the day before (You can skip this step if you work from home like me)
The way you dress affects how you feel about yourself. Choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable and doing it a day earlier save you the trouble of looking for an outfit. It doesn’t have to be expensive or trendy; the key is finding clothes that fit well, suit your style, and make you feel good about yourself. This step doesnt matter if your are going out later in the day, but its still essential to have what you want to wear in mind especially if you plan to head out sometime during the day.
Three. Hydrate and Nourish Your Body
Even if you do not have time to cook a balanced meal, ensure you have some liquid in your system (except you’re fasting of course). Your physical energy impacts your mental clarity. Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning, and eat something nourishing before heading out too if you can.
Four. Practice self talk
How you talk to yourself matters. If you pick an outfit and it looks good on you, you can remind yorself that it looks good in the mirror. That way, you affirm your looks and whatever standards the world might try to impose on you woudn’t really work on you cause you know yourself. Replace self-doubt with affirmations like, “I am confident,” or “I am ready to handle whatever comes my way.” A positive mindset can help you walk out the door with confidence and resilience.
Five. Set a clear intention for your day
Before stepping out, take a moment to set an intention. What do you want to accomplish today? How do you want to feel? This small mental exercise can give you a sense of purpose and help you navigate your day more effectively.
Six. Carry Essentials That you need
Keep a small kit of essentials in your bag or car to feel prepared. This could include a reusable water bottle, a small snack, a charger, or anything else that gives you peace of mind. Feeling prepared can ease stress and make you feel more in control.
Seven. Maintain Good Posture and Smile
Your body language says a lot about you before you even speak. Stand tall, keep your shoulders back, and walk with purpose and deliberation. Add a smile, and you’ll not only feel more confident but also project positivity to those around you.
Eight. Make sure you have everything you would need
Disorganization can lead to stress and frustration. Before you leave the house, double-check that you have everything you need—keys, wallet, phone, and any other essentials that you will need during the day. A quick mental checklist can save you from unnecessary panic later.
Nine. Ensure that you’re well rested
Before you step out of your home, it is important to avoid all crankiness. Ensure you’re not stressed or burnt out from strenous activities. This will help keep your energized, maintain clear thoughts and enable you to perform the tasks you plan to do.
Ten. Smell good
Of all things, remember to smell good. This elevates you in many physical and mental ways. Make sure you have showered properly, ensure you use an body/armpit spray and layer witha good scented perfume.
Final Thoughts
No matter how much you prepare, some days will have unexpected challenges. Be gentle with yourself when things don’t go as planned. Acknowledge your efforts and celebrate small wins.
Being at your best self doesn’t mean being perfect. It’s about showing up as the best version of yourself, with confidence, kindness, and positivity.
Lastly, remember to extend kindness to others; a simple act of kindness can brighten your day as much as theirs.
With these 10 tips, you can create a routine that supports your well-being and helps you shine every time you step out of your house. Remember, the energy you bring into the world starts with how you nurture yourself.
