The concept of ‘doing it all’ does not mean that you can do everything in the whole world at once and it definitely does not mean you can become a doctor and lawyer at the same time. Now that is a bit unrealistic, don’t you think?

What does it mean to “Do it all”?

Some time ago, I took six months to lock in and focus on my work. I called those six months the “caterpillar phase”. I dedicated those months solely to working and after I did just that. No socializing, just pure isolation and work. In that time frame, I gained experience and made progress but guess what? I was unsatisfied. I lost all the motivation, I felt like I had lost myself in the process, I didnt feel like me or the “butterfly” I wanted to become after six months of intense work. I was stuck at home in front of the computer for six months and real world became unfamiliar to me.

I had to start building my soft skills over again, my relationships, friendship, confidence etc all suffered. The isolation helped me realize that I needed to be disciplined enough to have a life and build myself AT THE SAME TIME. You don’t need to give one up for the other.

Limiting ourselves constantly makes us loose our essence to live and contribute to human existence. Over time, we are left with guilt and regret that we didnt live or do as much as we would have wanted to.
